An Update from Rwanda

I received greetings this morning from Bishop Samuel Kayinamura in Kigali, a good friend to the District through our partnership with the Free Methodist Church in Rwanda. I had only just been thinking of him as I listened to the Rwandan spokeswoman on Radio 4 defend the country’s decision to pay £30 million to sponsor a sleeve of Arsenal’s football shirt to promote tourism and therefore development opportunities.
+Samuel sent photos from worship in the cathedral at Gikondo, highlighting the involvement of many children and young people who contribute to the worship through drama and song. I shared with him our situation, where so many churches have no children or young people present on a Sunday, though highlighted the contacts we are often making through Messy Church.
There are many ways in which the Rwandan Church is rich where we are poor. It is good that we can pray for one another. Today Samuel and I share in prayer for all the children of the world, that they may come to know the love of God we know in Jesus.
