So far this week I have been at St John’s University in Durham on a three day conference looking at Neuroscience: Body, mind and free will. An excellent few days linking science and religion.

Fair Trade Fortnight

As part of Fair Trade Fortnight I attended a Mayoral Reception at the Mayor’s Parlour in Wolverhampton held in partnership with Wolverhampton City Fairtrade Partnership, it was a wonderful morning and great to see schools getting involved in the fair trade initiative.

Wolverhampton Holocaust Memorial Service

The Wolverhampton Holocaust Memorial Service was this year organised by Wolverhampton Interfaith by the Superintendent of the Wolverhampton Circuit, Revd David Lavender.  It was good to see a number of Methodists at the event.

Parliamentary Covenant Service

To finish off the Chairs Meeting this week we were invited by Methodist Central Hall to join with them in the Houses of Parliament for the annual Parliamentary Covenant Service, what a wonderful service in such a wonderful location.

District Chair’s Meeting

On Monday and Tuesday of this week (11-12th January), District Chairs from across the Connexion have met together in London.  This is a regular gathering of District Chairs to discuss together, to have fellowship and to look at how the Church is engaging with the wider world.

District Staff Christmas Dinner

On Monday, members of the District Staff Team came together for our annual Christmas Dinner, I’m sure you would agree that the staff do an excellent job to support the work of the District and this is just a small way of thanking them for all they do.

Ecumenical Canon

On Sunday 13th December I was installed as an Ecumenical Canon of Lichfield Cathedral.  This represents the warm relationship between the Diocese of Lichfield and the Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury District.

Borderland Rural Chaplaincy

In the west of the District one of the most exciting pieces of work is the Rural Chaplaincy working  with farmers and others in the agricultural community.
