There are two Methodist Schools in the District, Hob Hill Primary in Brereton near Rugeley, and John Fletcher of Madeley near Telford. Both of these schools are Church of England/ Methodist Primary schools.
The role of the Formal Education Committee is to support these two schools, particularly in ensuring a Methodist influence in their ethos.
Hob Hill Primary School is in the Cannock Chase Circuit. The Circuit is represented on the Governing Body of the school, and the local minister regularly goes into the school to take Collective Worship with the whole school. A group from both the local Methodist Churches and Parish Church run the J.C. and Me Club— a weekly lunchtime club
John Fletcher of Madeley School is in the Telford Circuit. Although there is no longer a Methodist Church in Madeley the Circuit is intent of maintaining a Methodist presence in Madeley through the school. The Circuit is represented on the governing body, and the Superintendent and Deacon of the circuit go into the school regularly to lead Collective Worship with Key Stage 1 and with Key Stage 2. The Circuit also funds a schools worker who works part-time, taking assemblies, leading RE lessons in the curriculum, organising Prayer Spaces each term and running an after-school club.
The role of Formal Education Secretary is currently vacant, if you would like to offer your services please contact the District Office
