Greetings for the New Year. I hope that you managed to have some measure of rest and refreshment in the midst of all the celebrations. This is to update you on a few matters:
Changes in Superintendency
The President of Conference accepted Kevin Jones’ resignation as a Methodist presbyter with effect from Monday 6th January in order that he might take up an appointment with the Free Methodist Church in Preston. Kevin had served the Connexion for nearly 25 years and at all levels of the church we have both thanked him for his faithful ministry and expressed sadness that he no longer wishes to journey with us. Kevin and Anne-Marie have given me permission to pass on their new address (for your own personal use). They are at 42 Moor Hey Drive, Penworthan, Preston, PR1 0SS. Kevin’s email will remain the same though they will be offline till later in the month.
The Gornal & Sedgley Superintendency is in stationing. For the remainder of the Connexional year I shall be named as Superintendent though receiving practical help from others in covering the various responsibilities.
We welcome Alan Combes who moves into the District this week with his wife, MIchele, in order to take up the Vale of Stour Superintendency. Alan’s welcome service is on Saturday 25th January at Kingswinford; tea at 3.30pm with worship at 4.30pm. Alan and Michele are at 3 Beaubrook Gardens, Wordsley DY8 5QJ should you wish to send greetings.
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 4th February gathering at Wellington Methodist Church from 9.30am to 4pm. Lunch will be provided. An agenda will be sent out nearer to the time. However if there are matters you would like us to discuss together, please let me know as soon as possible.
